New OzZope Website
OzZope content has been moved to a new website. This is another plone site.
Now at long last members can add and publish content. Members can add and edit content in their membership folders and can also add content to the wiki's (collaborative parts of the site). Members can add news items and events as well.
A couple of months ago we upgraded zope on our server. Shortly after this we packed the zope database. Doing this caused the ozzope plone site not to render. There was a bug in zope 2.6.1 that caused this.
Stupidly we didn't have a recent backup to roll back to. David Lutz managed to recover the data but we lost some of the functionality of the plone site. One the of problems was with the members database - when people published content it disappeared. Adding items via the pmi threw up a tab_index error message.
I asked the community for help but people in the zope world are pretty busy these days. I can't think of any person with zope knowledge at the moment who hasn't got more work than they can handle. Because I am not a developer I decided the best thing to do would be to upgrade to the latest Plone and import the content from the old site into a fresh plone instance. However there was something wrong within the content. Importing the ozzope.zexp file crashed the server a couple of times. Normally importing a .zexp file works on my server but unfortunately not the old ozzope.zexp file.
To get around this I cut and pasted the folders containing various sorts of content across into a fresh instance of Plone. This was of course more time consuming than importing all the content via one file. However it did give me the chance to clean up. The first file I moved was the membership folder. To my delight this fixed all the errors regarding that data. I then moved the rest of the content. The cmf wikis did not work in the upgraded site. On doing a bit of research I discovered cmf wikis are no longer supported and that plone now uses zwiki. So I set up zwiki files and Michael Cassidy copied and pasted the content from the old cmf wiki's. Lastly I set up the navigation tabs, the css, site permissions and then pointed the nameservers to the new site.
