What is Zope open source software?

Zope is an object oriented publishing environment. It is an open source web based publishing server built in Python. Out of the box, Zope provides a nice through-the-web administrative interface, database access, page templating, user management, inbuilt security and a persistent transactional object database. Zope is also cross-platform and scalable. Zope has an active user community.

Currently the Zope stable consists of the Plone Content Management System the Silva Web based XML Authoring and Publication System these are both based on Zope 2 and are incorporating and moving towards Zope 3. Plone, Silva and Zope 2 were developed for programers and non-programmers, Zope 3 is for Python programers only.
